🌧️ Monsoon in Full Swing: Relief and Risk

As we move deeper into the monsoon season, India is witnessing a variety of weather conditions—from intense rainfall in the Western Ghats to dry spells in parts of eastern India. July continues to be a crucial month for agriculture, water reservoirs, and urban life, making weather patterns all the more significant.


🌦️ Regional Highlights

1. North India

  • Delhi, Haryana, Punjab: The capital and surrounding areas have received intermittent showers, bringing relief from the scorching summer. However, humidity levels remain high.

  • Uttarakhand & Himachal Pradesh: Heavy rainfall has triggered landslides in hill districts. Travel advisories are in place.

  • Jammu & Kashmir: Mostly cloudy with light rain; Amarnath Yatra weather remains unpredictable.

2. East India

  • Bihar & Jharkhand: Below-normal monsoon activity. Scattered rains, but farmers are anxious about delayed sowing of paddy crops.

  • West Bengal & Odisha: Moderate to heavy rains, especially in coastal districts. Flood watch in low-lying areas.

3. West India

  • Maharashtra: Mumbai has seen classic monsoon showers—heavy rain spells followed by dry gaps. Local trains running, but waterlogging reported in low-lying areas.

  • Gujarat: Sporadic rainfall with heat still lingering in inland areas. Coastal districts seeing better monsoon activity.

4. South India

  • Kerala & Karnataka: Intense rainfall across coastal belts. Landslide alerts in hilly regions. Bengaluru experiencing cool, rainy evenings.

  • Tamil Nadu & Telangana: Drier than normal. Only isolated rainfall expected until end of July.

5. Northeast India

  • Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh: Continuous heavy rainfall. Floods in several river basins, especially the Brahmaputra.

  • Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram: Moderate rainfall but concerns over infrastructure due to constant moisture.


🌡️ Temperature Trends

  • Daytime: Northern plains average 32–36°C post-rain. Western Rajasthan remains hottest (~40°C).

  • Nighttime: Cooler temperatures across the board, especially in rain-affected zones. Hill stations drop to as low as 16–20°C.

  • IMD Warning: Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Maharashtra, Kerala, and Northeast India.

  • Urban Flood Risk: High in Chennai, Guwahati, and parts of Mumbai.
